Best Face Oils as part of your skincare routine in 2023

When we talk about the best natural skincare routine, we know it’s basically a gentle cleanser, weekly exfoliation, incorporating Vitamin A, lots of hydration and repairing the skin.

So where does Face Oils fit into our skincare routine? So  Firstly, it’s been talked about a look and no matter where we look people are adding face oiling to their skincare routines.  But it wasn’t so long-ago oils in face care was considered taboo, too - oily… but luckily, dermatologists and beauty editors are seeing the benefits and adding it in to 2023’s top steps in your skincare routine.

So if you’re hesitant about using an oil specifically created specifically for your face, its ok, we get it—but we are here to help debunk those myths and beauty advice that’s been circulating for years.

In this article we look at: What is face oil? When should you include face oil in your skincare routine? And what should you be looking for in your face oil products?

1. How to use Face Oils:

When it comes to face oils, you only need a few drops because the oils are very concentrated, a little goes a long way. You can pat or push the oils into the skin or use a beauty tool such a Sha Gua or Roller and give yourself a face massage.

2. When to use Face Oils:

You can use face oils in the morning and at night, depending on what concerns your face oil target. For example, if you have a higher concentration of vitamin A, you may wish to only use in the evening.

Oils should be applied after moisturizer. This may feel counterproductive as oils are thinning that moisturisers and can absorb more easily to the skin.  However, the role of the oil is to draw moisture in, and help to create a barrier for the skin to trap moisture in.

3. What ingredients to look for in a Face Oil:

It’s important to understand the benefits of face oils, and buy based on your skin concern, just as you would any other skin product.

We also strongly believe when it comes to face oils, natural is important. Because let's face it, you’ll likely already have chemicals from various different products – and this is a product that’s just nicer, natural.

Face Oils for Dry Skin:

For example, if you have dry or irritated skin you will be looking for products with oils such as

  • Rosehip

  • Cucumber seed oil

Face Oils for Anti-Aging:

If you are looking to add face oils into your skincare routine to target fine lines, wrinkles and help repair your skin’s barrier due to stresses like UV and pollution, you’ll what to look for powerful seed oils such as:

  • Sea Buckthorn – skin regeneration and repair properties and inhibits the aging process.
  • Pomegranate Seed – skin repair and regeneration of epidermis.
  • Raspberry Seed – vitamins A and E repair of skin cells creating a lipid barrier that stops skin from losing natural moisture. Retaining moisture helps to keep skin cells looking young and full.
